How do I refer a client?
It is easy to refer a client to the Motiv8 programme.
First of all you will need to check that they are eligible.
They need to be:
- Aged 25 or over
- Live in Greater Manchester
- Have the right to remain and work in the UK
- Not be currently in employment, self-employment or be on a zero hours contract
- Not currently be accessing any formal training
- Be experiencing at least two barriers such as mental health, drug and alcohol misuse, homelessness or risk of homelessness, criminal behaviour, physical health issues/disabilities, debt issues, domestic abuse.
You can also follow Motiv8 on Twitter:@Motiv8GM

Frequently asked questions
Additionally, they must have at least 2 significant issues that are not being managed. These might include:
- Mental health issues
- Drug or alcohol misuse
- Homelessness or risk of homelessness
- Criminal behaviour/risk of re-offending
- Physical health issues/disabilities
- Debt issues
- Domestic abuse
Please discuss with your client the eligibility criteria and their barriers that need addressing with a personal support plan. Manage expectations by advising of the need to verify employment status and right to live and work in the UK. Ask them to prepare appropriate documents if possible, for example, a birth certificate or passport and proof of benefits letter.
What happens if my client does not have a birth certificate, passport or proof of benefit information?
We can support them by obtaining a birth certificate. We can also help them obtain a proof of benefits letter, however, this adds to the time it takes to attach them to the programme.
Yes, the referral form is a key part of demonstrating a participant’s need for support and also assessing any associated risk. By completing all sections as fully as possible it enables us to process referrals efficiently and provide support in a timely manner.
If you are finding it difficult to fill in the form referrals can be completed at pre-arranged drop in sessions, call 0161 331 2048 to find out more. Or clients can self-refer by calling our Single Point of Access on 0161 331 2048.
We do our best to support those whose first language is not English. For example, we have the Wai Yin Society as a specialist partner who provide ESOL courses.
If a person has been with Motiv8 previously and they have left us with a positive result, for example entered training or employment, then they are not eligible to return. If a person was not ready and they failed to engage for whatever reason, they can be re-referred on to the programme.
We have a single point of access team. They can be contacted on 0161 331 2048 or by email: email@example.com
Yes we can still provide support to your client, although please complete a safeguarding referral following your own internal procedures prior to referring to Motiv8, to ensure your concern is addressed more quickly.
